I went in yesterday for another treatment, which was okay. Thank you to the June and Betsy, who came in for visits. It passes the time. I probably have 3 to go (9/9, 9/29 and 10/?).
The bad news for me is that I tested positive for a gene mutation (BRCA-1). Unfortunately, it has implications for breast cancer (60-85% lifetime chance). So I was also have to grapple with this issue. I'll meet with the Dana Farber oncologist to discuss this..
Hope you are all well. Thanks for the visits, and cards and letters.
It makes me feel sad that summer is almost over.

Dear Maura,
We had such a wonderful visit with you on that beautiful day at Nonquitt. What a paradise despite rogue water from the heavy rains a few days prior!!
Lunch was great, and it was fun to see Emily, Nathaniel, Margee, Susan and the pets. Wish the "Bills" had been there too (as well as Robert.)
By the way, you're in great shape, the walk was invigorating.
Of course you will beat all statistics just as you are beating the current issues. You have places to go and things to do and people who need and love you ~ no time for negative thoughts or conceptions.
Thanks again for the best day of the summer.
Love,
Cassy & Robert
Hi Maura,
I am glad that your session on Tuesday went well. The second bit of information was disconcerting. However, your determination will provide you with all the strength you need and the knowing of all the prayers around you and your lovely family.
I had a wonderful visit with you and Susan and the kids. So nice to meet your neighbor as well. The hand of God is definitely working all around you evidenced by all the special people around you. I hope that you get a chance to read the book, another that I think you would like is "Banker to the Poor", by Muhammad Yunus, an economist. Just fascinating. Also"Three Cups of Tea" (tremendous determination). Hope I will get to see you again soon. I will call ahead.
Love Joyce
Hi Maura,
Sally Bullard here- I know we haven't met yet although theorectically we're cousins- you are so lucky to have a home in Nonquitt, where I visit a lot in my dreams- I am sending you positive energy- I am thinking, and praying for you Maura- I hope our paths will cross- perhaps on North Haven- please say hi to Joh and Lydia-
God bless you Maura,
Sally
Hi Maura,
Keep your determination up. It's your greatest asset. I'll come to Concord after Labor Day for a visit. I'm emailing you a picture of Galloway which will surely put a smile on your face :)
Lots of love,
Karen
Hi Maura,
You made the tough choice to get the genetic testing. While the results weren't good, you did a great service to your sisters and Emily. I will see you on the 9th at DFCI.

I am glad that the latest chemo of the19th went without too much after efefcts! Was in Maine on my way back from Canada..wanted to find you at DanaFarber..; good to know Bill was with you and that you made it back to Nonquit for R&R!
it's so quiet here on the Cape today, but lovely lovely lovely..the weather is just divine! I feel the same way you do about the summer being over..
but that's only in our minds! But I guess when the kids go back to school..and everyone hunkers down to the new routine/even at work...we are also put itnot he same schedule..mom's, and all!
I had my aunt and my friend Patricia (from Maine) here for the long weekend. I used the truck on the outerbeach for the first time since we've owned it (my son has been using it for the past two years ;-))
..and we were out at the inlet on saturday..even if it was cloudy and spritzing on us.. Sunday we tired to drive out again but the Inlet side of beach was all full! so Priscilla landing was our hangout for the afternoon! My third swim of the summer! water temp "inside harbor" was perfect!
I had the plasure of finding out that one of my music pals Owen Richardon, is from Concord, he's 6 years old..also has a brother who knows Nathanial! Owen sings and plays guitar or irish drum with us at Orleans Inn on fridays at my Irish session..his grandfather is one of our members, so when Owen's family comes to visit here for a weekend..he performs with us! Small world!
I feel so remiss in not catching up to you this summer season.. I send my love...and prayers, di

Dear Maura,
It's been a while since I last wrote you a "blog." That certainly does NOT mean that I'm not thinking about you A LOT! I hope you are through the worst of the last chemo (8/19?). They (at Dana Farber) must think of you as "the model patient"! Your attitude through all of this is awesome. You kick ass, girl! We are behind (no pun intended) you
%100! I'll keep trying to call, knowing that if you are not up for a chat, you won't answer. How did the party for your Dad go? I hope YOU didn't lift a finger... I love the kind stories you tell of how others have been treating you.
Much love, Kate
