My next treatment dates are 7/31, 8/19 and 9/9. These will all be done at the Dana Farber Desens Lab and are contingent upon my recovery from the last treatment. I have doctor's appts. on 7/29 and will spend 3 days in Concord with Bill, who is getting a little lonely by himself. This treatment is different from the last treatment because it includes Taxol. I have had some joint pains and fatigue, unlike my first treatment which was Carboplatin only and asymptomatic. I am in a period now when I have to be careful about low blood counts.
I am lucky to have a supportive family around doing everything and keeping the kids occupied. Also I still have hair, which I may not in the next couple of weeks. I am happy to be here, but avoiding the sun is no fun. I am not as active as I usually am. I enjoy swimming, but can't really sit on the beach. The water has been delightful, but I go late in the day.
I hope you are all enjoying the summer!

Maura,
Thanks for keeping us all updated. You're quite the trooper!
When I'm thinking of you I'll have a great mental image of you down by the water in the late afternoon.
With a hug, June
Maura:
I just got back from Bethel and covered the previous week in a sub regional clinic on Lake Iliamna out on the Alaskan Peninsula. A beautiful place I had always wanted to go to. It was neat but I had to check patients in myself and give my own shots.
I am glad that the desensization went smoothly. How did they do it? Now that it is done do you still need to have future treatments done the same way in the ICU or can you just have the usual regimen at Brigham?
We are well. It has been gray lately. Look forward to seeing you all in August.
Will
Hey Maura,
Good to hear from you through means of the blog. I'm happy the treatments are under control and by September you'll be done. Great. No hair is totally an in look, not a big deal. You have great facial features to show off.
It has been hot on the Cape ~ wonderful summer days. Flowers are everywhere. It is so amazing to know that in 4 or 5 months we'll probably have inches of snow in lieu of warm sand.
Hi to Bill, Emily, and Nathaniel.
Love,
Cassy
See on Sept. 9th. I have my scan and appointments in the morning so we definitely can hook up.
Keep fighting. Remember that your doctor can sometimes recommend things for your symptoms so don't suffer needlessly.
Oh, yes,,,, You go, girl!

Dear Maura,
I got your note today and found the blog. You are such a trooper! I'm in awe of your fortitude and attitude.
Please keep us all posted. I will miss you sorely this summer on NH and will be thinking of you often.

Dear Maura,
Good luck tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you. (Today is 7/30) I hope you and Bill are enjoying some Q.T. in Concord, in the absence of the kids? Speaking of the kids, Max is arriving on Monday, and staying on through the 18th of August. Any chance Bill might want to haul them down to Maine for a few North Haven days during that period? Then you'd have total peace and quiet! (You can see I'm trying to sell you on the idea). Hope all is well. I look forward to your next "blog."
Much love to you, Kate
